Israel’s Basilica of Transfiguration safe after forest fire on Tabor aleteia.org

A forest fire on Mt. Tabor in northern Israel came perilously close to the Basilica of the Transfiguration, but firefighters managed to keep the fire at bay.

The fire began Saturday, possibly by accident by someone from a nearby village. Franciscan Fr.
