In a very solemn setting in the Dáil (the lower house of the Irish government), Simon Coveney, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defense, addressed the nation on a very serious issue. With speech in hand, the minister shared some much-awaited news on the topic of Santa Claus.
The question had been raised by John Brady, a member of parliament for Sinn Féin, on whether Santa would be exempt from the stringent COVID-19 measures currently in place. Coveney made it very clear that after weeks of “working on the Santa issue,” he would be exempt from quarantining, as of course his work is deemed essential. With newcomers to the Emerald Isle normally self-isolating for 14 days, Santa is officially now exempt from these measures…
