Catholic Medical Association joins lawsuit to overturn transgender mandate aleteia.org

A lawsuit has been filed to challenge a Biden administration mandate requiring doctors to perform gender transition procedures. The lawsuit was filed jointly by the Catholic Medical Association (CMA) and the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), who claim the mandate disregards the medical judgments and religious beliefs of doctors.

According to a press release, The CMA and ADF are representing an OB-GYN doctor who specializes in adolescents. CMA president, Dr. Michael Parker, decried the HHS’s reinterpretation of the Affordable Care Act, which prohibits gender discrimination in medical practice. Dr. Parker said:

“This mandate not only puts the health and safety of our patients in jeopardy, but it in effect also mandates that healthcare providers give up their fundamental right to conscience. This sets a dangerous precedent with incalculable implications for the ethical practice of medicine.”…
